Vitamin E and selenium are interrelated and function together as a part of a multi-component antioxidant defense system. Select Vit-E-Sel™ is a powerful natural protector. Its primary function is as an antioxidant preventing generation of harmful free radicals. Oxygen metabolism in the body produces these toxic “free radicals.” The antioxidant process converts the production of “free radicals” to harmless water. Vitamin E is an antioxidant, but is closely tied to selenium. Selenium has a sparing effect of Vitamin E by making it more efficient. Selenium is also important to prevent white muscle disease in foals and tying up in mature horses.

The National Research Council (N.R.C.) established Vitamin E and selenium requirements in the equine diet at 600-1800 I.U. / per day of Vitamin E and selenium at 1-3 ppm (or 1-3 mg. if the horse is ingesting 10 kg of dry matter). Select Vit-E-Sel™ supplies 625 I.U. Vitamin E and 1 mg selenium per day. Vit-E-Sel™ can also be mixed in bulk at 2.5 lbs per ton of feed. If you have any questions or concerns regarding Vitamin E and selenium in your horse’s ration, it is important to note that you contact your veterinarian or your local county extension office. In the United States only 30%-40% of the forages and grains are considered to have adequate selenium levels. Feeding Directions:
Feed 1/2 ounce or 14.17 grams per day or can be mixed in the ration at 2.5 lbs per ton.

1/2 ounce serving (14.17 grams) is equal to 1-1/2 scoops. Scoop enclosed.

Ingredients: Dehydrated cane molasses, Ground extruded whole soybeans, Vitamin E (dl-Alpha-tocopheryl acetate), Selenium (Sodium selenite), and Tertiary butyl hydroquinone (used to preserve freshness).
